How to Make a Cool YouTube Channel for "Modern Warfare 2"
After Infinity Ward released "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" (MW2), a number of players began posting commentary videos of MW2 gameplay on YouTube. Many of these videos feature a commentator speaking over actual gameplay footage while offering tips, strategies and other advice about how to become a better MW2 gamer. Some commentators have built a large number of subscribers and have used their channels to become members of YouTube's Partner Share program or obtain jobs in the gaming industry. Making a cool YouTube channel with MW2 content brought them attention from subscribers and helped grow their channels.
Instructions
-
-
1
Post gameplay commentary that shows your skill in MW2. Record your best games, whether a 77-1 kill-death ratio on a specific map or a shutout Capture the Flag game with your team and post these exceptional matches to your MW2 YouTube channel.
-
2
Upload useful tips, strategies and map advice. The commentator and former Major League Gaming professional player Xjawz has garnered over 400,000 subscribers by consistently posting helpful advice on how to play MW2 and other games in the Call of Duty series. Emulate his success by posting videos that detail strategies that less experienced gamers can use to excel at MW2.
-
-
3
Create a recognizable standard lead in and exit line. The commentator Mister Fantasmo begins all of his videos with "What's up my nuggets" and signs off with "Peace out nuggets." By doing this, he has created a cool sense of community among his loyal following.
-
4
Present an engaging persona. The commentator Dr. Disrespect created an alter-ego to narrate his gameplay. You don't have to follow his extreme example, but emulate commentators like Whiteboy7thst, who engage viewers with an over-the-top, entertaining personality.
-
5
Create cool montages and other unique gaming footage. Take your best recorded gameplay videos and splice them together to create unique montages that reflect your skill as both a gamer and a video director. The commentator zzirGrizz posts his "Matrix" series of montages to showcase his skills in playing MW2.
-
6
Reveal personal details. As your subscriber base grows, engage your subs further by offering commentaries that discuss your life, personal thoughts and goals, music or movies you like and other topics you think your subs will find interesting. The popular commentator SeaNanners has transitioned from posting MW2 gameplay to talking regularly about his life, adding subs in the process.
-
7
Give back to subscribers. Both Xjawz and zzirGrizz host regular "question and answer" videos in which they post responses to questions sent them by viewers. ZzirGrizz, for example, posts a weekly "Who dat is?" video in which he picks random questions sent by his more than 300,000 subsribers.
-
8
Set goals that reward your following when you achieve a certain number of subscribers. Offer to do a dual-commentary with a random subscriber when you reach 500 subscribers or offer to host a subscriber's video when you reach 1,000 subscribers.

Tips & Warnings
Post regularly on a schedule your subscribers can count on. For example, the MW2 commentator Woodysgamertag posts a "Mail Monday" series; his subscribers can count on seeing these videos every Monday that they log onto YouTube in order to check his channel.
Avoid cheap attempts to gain subscribers such as going "sub for sub" with other, smaller channels or hosting "giveaway" videos, where you offer prizes for new subscribers. These strategies may gain you subscribers, but might not result in subscribers who actually watch your content and help grow your channel.
