Instructions

    • 1

Choose dishware, old tiles and other decorative items to cover the pot with.

    • 2

Arrange your materials on a table to organize them and create an uncluttered work space.

    • 3

On a large surface, wrap a piece of the chosen dishware, tile or glass in a towel. Put on safety goggles and gloves. Tap the wrapped item with a small hammer to break the item into thumb-sized pieces. Use nippers to make the shards more uniform.

    • 4

Set each broken piece of dishware and tile flat on a table, decorated side up. Decide how you would like the pieces arranged on the pot. Practice placing different pieces next to one another on the table to create various designs and looks.

    • 5

Glue the shards, along with any other decorations, onto the pot using mosaic adhesive. Work around the perimeter of the pot. Do not lay the pot on its side or the pieces may detach and fall off.

    • 6

Check after a day to see if the glue has fully dried. If so, put on rubber gloves. Scoop out handfuls of tile grout from its container and apply it to the surface of the pot, covering the dishware shards. Rub the grout into all cracks between the shards.

    • 7

Wipe excess grout from the pot with a wet sponge. Re-wet the sponge and continue wiping it away until all excess grout is removed. Remove any grout that fell inside the pot. Allow the pot to dry for 72 hours before use. If desired, apply a waterproof sealer, following all manufacturer's instructions.
