You can send emails from alias addresses using the Mac Mail application.

With certain types of email accounts, you can set up multiple email addresses that are all linked to a central account. These secondary addresses are referred to as aliases and can be used for both sending and receiving messages. Apple users can configure Mac Mail, which is included with all versions of Mac OS X, to send emails from an alias address.

Instructions

      Launch the Mac Mail program on your computer.

      Go to the "Mail" menu at the top of the screen and select "Preferences."

      Go to the "Accounts" tab at the top of the Preferences window.

      Highlight the name of your central email account from the list on the left side of the window.

      Click on the tab labeled "Account Information."

      Add the alias addresses you want to use to the "Email Address" field, separating each one with a comma.

      Close the "Preferences" window and compose a new blank message.

      Open the drop-down menu next to "From" and choose the alias address from which you want to send the message.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use this method with .mac email aliases.
