How to Make Plum Jelly Using Dutch Gel
Dutch Gel powder is a brand of gelatin that is used to make jellies of all kinds. One jelly that is straightforward to make is plum jelly. Plum jelly is made from the juice of plums, or you can cut the plums into small pieces and use them inside the jelly as well. Try making the jelly both ways to determine the method you prefer. Things You'll Need
- 8-quart pot
- 4 pounds plums
- Sugar
- Dutch Gel powder
- Butter
- Glass jars with flat lids

Remove the pit from the plums. Cut the plums into small pieces with a sharp knife. Boil the plums in an 8-quart pot with 1/2 cup of water. Simmer the plums for five minutes to soften the fruit. Add 1/3 cup Dutch Gel powder to the fruit mixture and stir. Add 1/2 tsp. of butter to the mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil.

Pour 8 cups of sugar into the pot. Boil the mixture for about one minute, then remove the mixture from the heat. Scrape off any foam from the top of the mixture and discard.

Pour the jelly mixture into glass jars with lids. Screw the flat lids on top of the jars. Turn the jars upside down for five minutes. After five minutes, turn the jars back right side up. This pouring method should seal the jars with an airtight seal, allowing storage at room temperature. You can also store the jelly in the refrigerator.
