"You're so banned."

So you've set up the perfect channel on Ustream and your are live on the Web, sharing your talents and thoughts with other users. The only problem is an annoying bot that keeps coming into your channel and spamming your viewers with disruptive messages and URLs. However, as the broadcaster you are also a moderator, and you can ban users from your channel's chat room.

Instructions

    • 1

      Press the "Pop Out Chat" link in the upper-right side of the screen from your Ustream broadcasting window. This opens the chat window.

      Press the "Show Users" icon in the lower-right side of the screen. The icon looks like the torso of a man. This brings up the list of viewers in the chat channel.

      Right-click the name of the user or bot. Several options appear in a pop-up window. Select "Kick" or "Ban" to remove the user or bot from the channel.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can assign other moderators to help you with chat moderation in your "Chat Settings." Once you assign other moderators, they will have the same powers of moderation that you have -- so make sure it is someone you trust.

  • Kicking is temporary, and the user or bot could re-enter the chat room during this session. Banning permanently blocks the IP address belonging to the user or bot during the session. They will not be able to re-enter the chat for the session.
