Feel free to say no. People often feel pressured into saying "yes" to things even when they know deep down that they really do not have the time for them. If something isn't really necessary for you, empower yourself by saying "no." You do not have to decline in a rude manner. Simply state that you do not have the time, and make sure to be gracious when you do so. Do not let someone force you into attending someone's birthday party at noon after you were working hard at an important project until the early hours of the morning.

2
Write out your daily schedule. One key element to scheduling and staying on top of things is making a day-to-day plan of the most important tasks that you need to accomplish. The schedule cannot exist simply in your head, however. Put it on paper so you do not forget anything important. Concisely and clearly write out errands and tasks that you need to do, from taking your daughter to softball practice to shopping at the grocery store to pick up food. As you complete an item off of the list, cross it off so you can easily see what is left.

Stop wasting time. Closely analyze a typical day in your life. To make the most out of your time, think about when you are not engaging in productive activities. Consider your habits and be objective. Ask yourself if you perhaps spend a little too much time watching television, surfing the Internet, or drinking your coffee in the morning. Identify any precious time you may be able get back when you schedule yourself. If you pinpoint where you might be wasting time, it may be able to help you schedule more tasks into just one day (as long as you cut out or reduce the time-wasting behaviors, that is).

Take time out to relax. If you pack too much into your daily schedule, you do not leave yourself any time to sit back and breathe. Being too busy can leave you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and out of control in life. To enhance your feelings of well-being and productivity, go out of your way to set aside personal time, just for you. Talk a brisk and calm stroll around the park for 15 minutes every evening to collect your thoughts. Curl up on your bed with a riveting novel for a few minutes after you put your kids to bed at night. Make "alone time" a regular part of your schedule.

5
Prioritize. Be realistic when it comes to prioritizing your goals of the day. Think about what really is the most important and what has to be done as soon as possible. If your day is looking busy and something can be done the next day instead, postpone it. If you have too much on your plate for one day, you have a higher likelihood of forgetting it, doing a halfhearted job, and burning yourself out. Pace yourself when putting together your schedule.

Take note of locations. To maximize your time when creating a schedule, be aware of proximity. For instance, if you need to pick up your daughter and her school is situated right next to your favorite supermarket, make a quick stop at the store on your way there to save time. Not only can this conserve your valuable time, it can also save you money on pricey gasoline.

Tips & Warnings
Impose time limits. If you have a jam-packed day ahead of you, learn how to limit the time you spend on certain tasks. If you let something consume your entire day, you will throw your whole schedule off and neglect a lot of other things. Allot a specific amount of time you want to spend on one thing. For example, jot down on your schedule "one hour cleaning the house" instead of simply "cleaning the house."
