How to Pay Land Taxes in Fort Bend, Texas

Property owners in Texas pay taxes through their county tax assessor. Taxes are figured by multiplying the current tax rate with the property's current tax value. The Fort Bend Tax Assessor mails tax notices to property owners around October 1 of each year. Taxes are due when the statement is received and are considered delinquent if the total is not paid by the following February 1. The Fort Bend Tax Assessor provides a variety of ways for land owners to make sure taxes are paid on time.

The search allows a number of ways to locate the records including using the property owner's name, property address or the tax payer's account number.       Pay for the land taxes through the Fort Bend Tax Assessors website. Once you discover the property tax records through the third-party Tax Assessors search tool, you will have the option to pay the taxes from the search results page. Property owners can make a payment using a credit card or an e-check through the provided service. Service charges are added to payments made from this third-party processor and are clearly noted on the property tax results page.

      Make payment by mailing a check, money order or cashier's check to the Tax Assessors office. Tax statements tell the tax payer where to mail their payments. Tax payers without a statement can use the post office box address for submitting tax payments available from the Fort Bend Tax Assessors website (see References).

      Visit the tax assessors office and make a payment. There are five different tax office locations in Fort Bend County. Offices can be found in the cities of Needville, Richmond, Sugar Land, Missouri City and Katy. Drop boxes are available for customer convenience.   • Partial payments are not accepted by the Fort Bend Tax Assessor. Payment plans are only available for delinquent accounts.
