How to Import Video Components in Windows Vista

Microsoft Windows Vista allows you to import video components for the Windows Media player utility installed on your computer. You will have to purchase, download and then install the plugin for this purpose from the Microsoft website. Plugins add extra functionality to the media player. Most of the available plugins are proprietary and have to be purchased first to be used.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the Microsoft website to download plugin for the Windows Media Player (See Resource 1).

    • 2

Choose the plugin that you want to import into Media Player from the displayed list of available ones (for example, CinePlayer DVD Decoder) and then click the "Get for Windows Vista" option below it.

    • 3

Click the option to purchase the plugin on the plugin webpage that opens (for example, "Download Now" or "Add to Cart"). This option varies from one website to another.

    • 4

Purchase the plugin by paying the requisite amount. Again, the option to accomplish this varies from one website to another.

    • 5

Click the displayed plugin download link after you have purchased the plugin to download the plugin.

    • 6

Navigate to the location on your computer where you want to save the plugin on the dialog box that opens and then click "Save."

    • 7

Double-click the downloaded plugin file to install it on your computer and then use it with Windows Media Player.
