How to Get My GED Transcripts From Illinois

Earning a GED instead of a high school diploma is quite an accomplishment. Often someone testing for a GED has been out of high school for a long period and may not remember everything learned previously. Once you pass your GED tests in Illinois and get the results in the mail, you may send your transcripts to colleges or other institutions. If you'd like an extra copy for your records, you only need to request a copy from the county in Illinois in which you took the test. Most counties, such as Cook or DuPage, have online request forms available.

Choose whether you prefer to call for a transcript request form, email the ROE contact for a form or go to the website for the GED transcript request form.

    • 4

Complete the transcript request form, filling in your name, current address, Social Security number, when and where you took the GED test and where to mail the transcript. The Cook County form has separate sections for sending the transcript to you or sending to a college.

Sign and date the transcript request form and enclose your method of payment before sending the request to the address indicated on the form. Often ordering rush transcripts costs an extra fee but is useful if you have to make a college application deadline.
