1
Turn off the Black and Decker coffeemaker and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Remove the carafe and allow the unit to cool completely.
-
2
Pour a 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 2 cups of warm water into a small bowl. Dampen a clean cloth with the mixture and squeeze the excess out of the cloth.

3
Wipe the control console area with the cloth. Avoid squeezing any liquid in between the buttons and the unit case. Allow the vinegar to naturally soak into any grime or sugar deposits around the edges of the buttons. This keeps any liquid from bleeding into the circuit board. The grime and sugar act like sponges for the vinegar water.

4
Slide the tip of a toothpick above the area where there is a grime build-up in the edges of the button. Pull the grime away from the unit with the toothpick.
-
5
Wipe the control console with a clean damp cloth and allow it to dry. Blow a few shots of compressed air in between the button edges and the control console. Work the buttons with your fingers and continue cleaning until the buttons move in and out without sticking.

Tips & Warnings
Buttons that are mechanically stuck, require a service repairman to take the unit apart correctly. Often it is much less expensive to simply purchase a replacement in these cases.
