Instructions

    • 1

Fill the bottom of a plant pot saucer with pebbles. Fill the saucer with water until it is 1/4 inch below the top of the pebble layer.

    • 2

Bring the fern to the sink or take it outside. Pour water from a watering can onto the potting soil. Do not pour water onto the foliage. Continue watering the plant until water comes out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot.

    • 3

Leave the pot in the sink or outside to drain for 10 minutes. Bring it back to its regular spot and set the pot on the pot saucer with the pebbles. The water in the saucer will help keep the air around the plant humid.

    • 4

Insert your finger into the potting soil once a day, at a depth of 1 inch, to ensure the soil is still moist. When it begins to dry out, water it again so the soil stays evenly moist at all times.
