How to Find a Probability With Two Percentages
Probabilities measure the chances of an event occurring, such as the probability of a player getting a hit or a home run, a person living to a certain age or a coin toss. Sometimes, you want to find the probability of an event based on two percentages, such as the probability that a player hits a home run when you only know how often he gets a hit and the percentage of those hits that turn out to be home runs.

1
Convert each percentage to a decimal by dividing by 100. For example, if a baseball player gets a hit 35 percent of the time and 15 percent of those hits are home runs and you want to know what the probability of hitting a home run equals, divide 35 by 100 and 15 by 100 to get 0.35 and 0.15.
-
2
Multiply the two percentages expressed as decimals by each other. In this example, multiply 0.35 by 0.15 to get 0.0525.

3
Multiply the decimal by 100 to find the probability expressed as a percentage. Completing the example, multiply 0.0525 by 100 to get a 5.25 percent probability that the player hits a home run.
