How to Make Dog Collar Bracelets
Dog collars come in a variety of colors, widths and styles to suit a wide range of feminine and masculine tastes. With a bit of measuring and sewing, you can alter a standard collar to fit your wrist and proclaim your love for dogs. Start with a wide leather studded collar for a tough look, a plain woven collar for a minimalist aesthetic or a bejeweled pastel collar to suit soft feminine tastes.

1
Loosely measure around your wrist where you want the bracelet to sit.
-
2
Open the dog collar and lay it flat. Measure the length of the collar to determine how much to cut off. If the collar has a buckle and holes for adjustment, only measure from the last hole to the end of the collar.

3
Cut a section of fabric from the middle of the collar so the collar length equals your wrist length. Avoid cutting out the metal leash loop, buckle holes or other collar features important for style and functionality. For a looser bracelet, add an inch or two to your original wrist length before cutting the excess.
-
4
Discard the cut out section of collar and place the two cut ends together. The buckle and holes should be at opposite ends of the collar, just as they were in the original collar.
-
5
Sew the two collar ends together. If your collar is nylon or another soft, woven fabric, simply sew the ends together with heavy duty waxed thread. If your collar is made of a tough material such as leather, use fabric chalk to mark where you want the stitches, then punch out holes with a hand awl. Glue the two ends of the collar together with super glue, then stitch the two pieces in place with waxed heavy duty thread.
-
6
Attach a charm to the metal leash loop, if desired. The collar bracelet is now ready to wear.
