How to Kill Vampires in "Oblivion"
Bethesda's open-world fantasy RPG "Oblivion" was released in 2005. Players complete a vast number of quests for different factions in an attempt to prevent a demonic attack on their world. A common side-quest is a request from a non-player character (NPC) to clear out a nearby cavern that has become infested with Vampires that continually attack settlers. Vampires can be challenging opponents and there are several things to keep in mind if you plan to take them on.

1
Approach the cavern as indicated on your map. There are 20 Vampire dungeons in the game. Some dungeons are quest-related, others are random encounters found in abandoned forts and caves throughout the world. Use the "Wait" function to advance time to around 11am before entering the dungeon. This is when the sun is at its highest.

2
Equip a projectile fire spell and a weapon with a fire enchantment if you have one. Vampires possess an inherent weakness to fire and using fire damage will give all your attacks a bonus, making the vampires much faster to defeat. Vampires usually lurk in pairs or small groups, so defeat a group quickly then heal before moving on to the next one. Get close and use numerous quick melee attacks. Vampires will often conjure creatures and spirits to fight for them. Ignore the creatures and go straight for the Vampire. You will become overwhelmed by the group of vampires if you attempt to preserve health by blocking and dodging.

Use the "Cure Disease" potion only once you have defeated all the vampires in the cave. Chances are you will have been struck by one of the vampires and informed that you have "Contracted Porphyric Hemophilia." This is the blood condition that leads to Vampirism and it needs to be cured within 24 hours of infection to return you to normal. Only drink the potion when you are sure you are safe from further Vampire attacks.

Tips & Warnings
Run outside if you start to get overpowered while fighting the vampires. Any who attempt to follow you outside will be harmed by the sunshine, since you waited until midday to attack. The vampires will likely stay indoors, giving you a chance to cast several healing spells before heading back in to finish them.
Run, don't fast travel, to the nearest town and locate a healer or purchase a "Cure Disease" potion from a merchant or Mage's Guild if you contract Porphyric Hemophilia and do not have a healing potion. You must undergo a very lengthy quest to heal yourself once the disease has turned into full Vampirism.
