How to Personalize Twitter Backgrounds

How to Personalize Twitter Backgrounds thumbnail
Transfer a picture from your computer to use as your Twitter background.

Just as you can customize your home with paintings on the wall, or your computer's desktop with a wallpaper image, you can also personalize the background of your Twitter account, which people can see when they visit your Twitter profile page. The picture you use on your Twitter page gives people added insight into your personality as they read your "tweets." You can easily personalize your Twitter background.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to the Twitter website (twitter.com).

    • 2

Log in to your Twitter account.

    • 3

Click "Settings" on the navigation bar at the top of the page.

    • 4

Click the "Design" tab. Thumbnails of free Twitter background images appear, such as clouds, stars and plants. Click a picture's thumbnail to select it as your Twitter background.

    • 5

Click "Change Background Image" if you want to use your own picture for your Twitter background instead of one of the pictures Twitter provides. You can use a GIF, PNG or JPG image file no larger than 800 KB.

    • 6

Click "Choose File." A dialog box appears. Click a folder on your computer containing the picture you want to use to personalize your Twitter background. Click the picture file to select it. Click "Choose." The picture uploads to your Twitter account.

    • 7

Click "Save Changes." The image you uploaded now appears as your personalized Twitter background.
