Drawing is a talent that has been highly valued for centuries. A young woman of breeding once needed to be an an accomplished artist to be considered a lady. These days, upbringing rarely includes drawing lessons, but being able to draw simple items will be useful for everyday life. Some of the easiest items are bows, ribbons and hearts and are necessary elements for any feminine repertoire.

Instructions

  1. Hearts

    • 1

Lay your piece of paper on a table.

    • 2

Draw an upside-down triangle, point facing down, very lightly.

    • 3

Round the left corner of the triangle.

    • 4

Place your pencil at the center of the base of the triangle, one-fourth of the way down from the top line.

    • 5

Draw an obtuse curved line from your point, blending into your curved line.

    • 6

Draw another obtuse curved line to the bottom point of the triangle,

    • 7

Repeat with the right side of your triangle, creating your heart. Erase the light triangle lines.

    Bows

    • 8

Draw two sideways triangles, points touching each other.

    • 9

Draw a rounded square shape in the center covering the center points of both triangles.

    • 10

Round the outside lines of the triangle with obtuse curved lines.

    • 11

Draw alternating lines and oblong ovals from the center of the rounded square outwards, on both side. These shapes are for the gathers of the bow and should not extend more than one-fourth the length of each triangle.

    Ribbons

    • 12

Draw a squiggly line -- a series of forward and backward "S" shapes -- extending the desired length of the ribbon.

    • 13

Begin another line parallel to the first, the desired width of the ribbon away from the first line.

    • 14

Draw the line parallel until you reach the center of the curve, then begin to taper the line. Cross the line over to the other side of the squiggly line at the turning point of the line. Gradually make the line wider until you reach the center of the curve, where the line should be the desired width of the ribbon. Then taper and cross the line back over at the turning point of the line. Continue until the end of the line.

    • 15

Draw two perpendicular lines at either end of the shape, closing it off.
