How to Locate & Remove a Keylogger

Keyloggers are vicious computer programs that record your keystrokes while you type and transfer them to a remote host. Keyloggers can capture screenshots, steal passwords and record your chat conversations. For that reason, you need to remove a keylogger immediately to preserve your personal data. Running an antivirus is the most effective method of locating and removing a keylogger, which can reside on your system without showing any symptoms.

Instructions

Run Panda Antivirus Pro

1. Download and install the free edition of Panda Antivirus Pro.

2. Open Panda Antivirus Pro. Open the "Scan" tab and click "Scan all my computer."

3. Select all the keyloggers that the tool finds. Choose the quarantine or removal option. Restart your computer.

Run SpyHunter

1. Download and install the free edition of SpyHunter.

2. Click "Spyhunter Scanner." Place a check next to the letter that corresponds to your hard drive under the Smart Scan section. Click "Start Scan."

3. Select all the keyloggers that the tool finds and click the delete option. Reboot your system.

Run eTrust PestPatrol

1. Download and install the free edition of eTrust PestPatrol.

2. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Right-click the drive letter that matches your hard drive and select "Scan with eTrust PestPatrol."

3. Place a check next to all the keyloggers that the tool finds and click the removal option. Reboot your system.
