How to Export Audio in Ableton Live 7

Export professional-grade audio from projects made with Ableton Live 7's recording and sequencing software once your tracks are completed. You can either export the master output of your track, or each of the audio tracks separately. You can also determine the quality of the audio file being exported as well. After the exporting process has been completed, the rendered audio files will be stored on your computer's hard drive for further editing, or release and sharing purposes. You can begin the audio exporting process in Ableton Live 7 in under two minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the project in Ableton Live that you wish to export the audio rendering from. Click "File," "Open Project," then select the project's name from the populated list on your screen.

    • 2

Click "File," "Export Audio" and select each of the exported audio's attributes. Select either "Master," "All Tracks," or a single track's name that you wish to export from the "Rendered track" drop-down menu box. Select the option to turn Normalization on if desired, and to create a loop from the rendered audio on this screen as well.

    • 3

Select either "WAV" or "AIFF" as the type of exported audio file that is to be created from the "Audio" section of that same screen. Select "Mono" if you want the file to be created in a single audio channel, instead of in stereo left and right channels. Select the sample rate and bit depth, as well as the dithering options, from the boxes below. You can deselect the option to "Create an analysis file" by clicking the box next to it. The analysis file is used within Ableton Live for BPM time-sync purposes.

    • 4

Click "OK" to being exporting the audio to create the rendered file(s). A progress bar will now appear showing you the percentage of exporting completion that has taken place during the process. The amount of time that it takes to complete the exporting is determined by the number of tracks being exported, as well as the bit depth and sample rate.

Tips & Warnings

  • You must click on the "Master" track name from either the "Arrangement" or "Performance" screens if you want the audio being sent through the master mixer to be exported in an audible fashion. Do this before choosing the selection to "Export Audio" from the "File" menu."
