How to Open Palm Pre Files on Your Desktop
The HP/Palm Pre is a multimedia smart phone running the WebOS operating system. These phones feature eight gigabytes of internal flash memory for storing files, photos, videos and music. You can open files saved on your HP/Palm Pre on your desktop computer by connecting the device to your computer using a Micro-USB-to-standard-USB cable. The charger that comes packaged with HP/Palm Pre smart phones includes a removable cable for making this connection.

Disconnect the Micro-USB-to-standard-USB cable from the charger that came with your HP/Palm Pre. If you do not have the default charger for your device, any similar USB plug conversion cable will work.

Plug the standard USB end of the cable to an available USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Connect the Micro USB end of the cable to your HP/Palm Pre charger port. A prompt will appear on the touchscreen.

Tap the "USB Drive" button on the touchscreen.

Open Windows Explorer, or Finder for Mac users, on your computer. Open the drive labeled "Palm Pre" and you will find all of the files you have saved to your HP/Palm Pre smart phone.

Eject the HP/Palm Pre USB drive by right-clicking the drive icon on your computer and selecting "Eject" from the menu.

Tips & Warnings
You will not be able to make or receive calls or text messages with your HP/Palm Pre smart phone while it is in the "USB Drive" mode.
