Filemaker Pro 10 is a database development application that runs on both the Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. When building a database in Filemaker Pro 10, you can display records in different ways by creating multiple layouts. In order to help your users move between layouts, implement a navigation menu in the header of your layout designs.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the Filemaker Pro 10 application and open the database file to which you want to add a navigation menu.

    • 2

Go to the "View" menu at the top of the screen and choose "Layout Mode."

    • 3

Open the "Insert" menu and select the "Button" option.

    • 4

Highlight the "Go to Layout" script step from the left side of the "Button Setup" window.

    • 5

Click on the arrow button next to "Specify," choose "Layout" and then double-click on the name of the layout you want to include in the navigation menu.

    • 6

Press "OK" to add the new button to your layout design.

    • 7

Enter a label for the navigation button, press "Enter" key and drag the button to the header section at the top of your layout.

    • 8

Repeat Steps 3 through 7 for each additional button you want to add to your navigation menu.

    • 9

Open the "Layouts" menu and choose the "Save Layout" option when you are done building the navigation menu.
