How to Make It Look Like You Are Offline When You Are on Facebook

Facebook offers users the option to appear offline to other users.

There are several reasons why you may not want other Facebook users to know you are online. You may want to avoid communicating with specific users you have a problem with, or you may not want to be disturbed while you are on the site. The chat feature in Facebook allows users to see if you are on the website by displaying your online status. To change your status to "Offline," use the settings in the chat box.

Instructions

1. Launch a Web browser, and then go to the Facebook login page.

2. Enter your email address and password in the appropriate fields, and then click "Login."

3. Click the "Chat" box located at the bottom-right corner of the window. The chat box expands.

4. Click "Options" at the top-right corner of the chat box.

5. Select "Go Offline" from the pop-up list. You now appear offline to other Facebook users even though you are still logged in to the site.
