How to Format Bullet Points on Microsoft Word
A Microsoft Word document may start out by default as one big paragraph of text on a page, but breaking up that paragraph is quick and simple using the "Bullets" button found in the "Paragraph" section of the "Home" tab's ribbon. Word's bullets take on a default appearance, solid and round. Whether you're starting a new project with bullets or editing an already bulleted one, format bullets' appearance at any time using Word.

1
Open Microsoft Word. Click the "File" tab. Click "Open." Go to the document with the bullets to format and double-click its file name. When the document opens in Word, scroll to the section with the bullets.
-
2
Highlight the bullets to format with the cursor. Note that the bullets themselves will not highlight, just the text.
-
-
3
Right-click the highlighted section and select "Bullets." Click one of the other bullet shapes from the "Bullet Library" to change the bullets' appearance.
-
4
Demote or promote bullet levels by clicking the "Change List Level" link and selecting a new level from the fly-out menu, which will shift bullets over to the left or right. Note this may change the bullet appearance. If so, change it using the previous step, picking a bullet using the "Bullet Library."
