You can customize the display settings of your MacBook Pro.

Staring at a bright computer screen for long periods of time can cause eye strain, making it difficult to read large amounts of text. To make readier text easier, you can invert the colors on your MacBook Pro display. Inverting the colors turns black font on a white background into white font on a black background. You can invert the colors using the menu options or a keyboard shortcut.

Instructions

  1. Using The Menu

      Click the "Apple" menu at the top of the screen and then click "System Preferences."

      Click "Universal Access" in the "System Preferences" window.

      Click "Seeing" in the "Universal Access" window to view a list of visual options.

      Click "White On Black" in the "Display" section of the window to invert the color of the display.

    Using The Keyboard

      Press and hold the "Command," "Control" and "Option" keys on the keyboard with your left hand.

      Press the "8" key with your right hand. The colors will invert when all four keys are pressed.

    • 7

      Press all four keys again to invert the colors again and return the colors to the default setting.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can remove colors from the display and view grayscale by enabling the "Use Grayscale" option on the "Seeing" tab of the "Universal Access" window.
