1. Consider your company's goals and objectives for the work or project. Decide what you would like the intern to do, how many interns you will need for the project, and how the internship will benefit your company. When going through the decision process, take the student's abilities into consideration, such as a graduate's capacity to provide innovative ideas that even may be new to your current employees.

2. Write an outline of the internship job or project, including education and degree requirements, the length of time for the job or project, technical and professional qualifications, rate of pay, and description of the job duties.

3. Format the internship job description just like a regular job description. Introduce the internship with an overview of what the project is and a little bit about your company. Include the educational background required and skills needed for the job, duties that will be performed, rate of pay and length of project. End the description with contact information that includes directions on how to apply for the internship.

4. Post the internship job description in your local newspaper or other publications, on online job boards and job postings for the type of work at local colleges and universities, specifically in the department that relates to the type of job. For instance, if the project is for office work in a law firm, you will want to post it on a bulletin board near paralegal and law classes.
