Transferring land ownership on Tarrant County, Texas requires a legally binding document called a deed. A deed conveys or transfers the rights of the current owner(s), or grantor(s), to new owner(s), or grantee(s). The new document must state the information of each party along with the legal description of the land. In Tarrant County, the county clerk records the new deed, replacing the previous one.

      Compose a new deed transferring ownership from the grantor to the grantee. Start by placing the name(s) on the grantor(s) on the new deed, along with his/their address. Also include the name(s) of the new owner(s) on the deed, along with the current address.

      Enter the considerations on the deed, stating the terms of the land exchange, including money or property exchanged. Place the legal description, available from the old deed, onto the new deed.

      Add the statement of title to the new deed stating that the grantor does not have outstanding judgments or liens against the property.

      Include the preparer(s) name(s) on the deed. For instance, place the phrase "This deed prepared by (name)" on the deed.

      Place a signature line for the grantor(s) and grantee(s) on the last page of the deed. Also, include a date line for each.

      Sign and date the new deed in the presence of a notary. Have her sign and date the deed and place her seal on it.

      Go to the county clerk's office in room 130A. Submit the deed along with the filing fee, which is $16 for the first page and $4 for each additional page as of May 2011.
