How to Create Palm Pre Plus Ringtones

Create ringtones for your HP/Palm Pre Plus smart phone.

The HP/Palm Pre Plus is a full-featured multimedia smartphone. The phone features 8 gigabytes of internal memory storage, which is perfect for storing photos, videos and music. You can access the internal memory of an HP/Palm Pre Plus by connecting it to a computer with a Micro-USB-to-standard-USB cable. You can even transfer digital audio files from your computer to the HP/Palm Pre Plus internal memory and use those files as a ringtone for incoming calls.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the Micro-USB-to-standard-USB cable from the charger that came with your HP/Palm Pre Plus. If you do not have the default charger for your phone, you can use any Micro-USB-to-standard-USB cable.

2. Connect the standard USB end of the cable to an available USB port on your computer. Plug the other end of the cable to the charger port on your HP/Palm Pre Plus.

3. Tap the "USB Drive" button that appears on your HP/Palm Pre Plus.

4. Open Windows Explorer or Finder for Mac users. Locate the digital audio file you want to use as a ringtone on your HP/Palm Pre Plus.

5. Select the audio file you want to use as a ringtone and copy the file by pressing the "Control" or "Mac symbol" key plus the "C" key on your computer's keyboard.

6. Open the "Palm Pre" drive in Explorer or Finder. Open the folder named "Ringtones."

7. Paste the audio file in to the folder by pressing the "Control" or "Mac symbol" key plus the "V" key on your computer's keyboard. Wait for the file to finish transferring.

8. Eject the HP/Palm Pre Plus from your computer by right-clicking the "Palm Pre" drive icon and selecting "Eject."

9. Tap the "Launcher" icon on the bottom right corner of the HP/Palm Pre Plus home screen. Locate the icon for "Sound and Ringtones" and tap it on the touchscreen.

10. Tap the "Ringtone" selection under the "Ringer Switch On" heading. A list of ringtones will appear. The ringtone you transferred to your device will be at the bottom of the list.

11. Tap the ringtone on the touchscreen to activate it as your ringtone. A green check mark will appear beside the ringtone title to confirm your selection.

Tips & Warnings

• Music files on your HP/Palm Pre Plus can also be added to the ringtones list by tapping the "Add Music" button in the bottom corner of the ringtone selection screen in the "Sounds and Ringtones" app.

• You will not be able to make or receive phone calls when the HP/Palm Pre Plus is connected to your computer in the "USB Drive" mode.
