The writing on a photo can be any size, color or font.

Editing digital photos can be relatively easy when using photo editing software like Microsoft Paint or Google's Picasa. Such programs allow users to make an abundance of modifications their digital photos from creating borders around the pictures to giving the photo a sepia or black and white look.



Photo editing software also allows users to place text boxes containing words on top of their pictures. Text boxes can be made as large or small as you want and be written in any font or color you choose.

Instructions

  1. Adding Text with Paint

    • 1

      Go to the "Start" menu, scroll over "All Programs" and click on "Paint." After the program opens, click on "Paint" on the top menu and click on "Open." Locate the digital photo that you want to place writing on and click "Open."

      Click on the icon of the letter "A" on the "Tools" tab on the top toolbar. With your mouse, click on a section of your photo and drag your mouse diagonally to create a text box. Type whatever you want to type into the text box using your keyboard.

      Highlight the text you've entered in the text box by clicking and dragging your mouse over the words. Use the "Font" and "Colors" tools on the top toolbar to change the font style, font size or color of the writing your text box.

      Resize your text box by hovering your mouse pointer over one of the points on the sides and corners of the text box, clicking on one of those points and then dragging the box outwards or inwards to make it larger or smaller. Move your text box to a different area of your picture by clicking on one of the sides of the text box and dragging it to wherever you please.

      Click on "Paint" on the top toolbar and then click on "Save." The writing you have placed on your photo will now be permanently saved.

    Adding Text with Picasa

      Click on "Picasa" to open the program. Wait momentarily while the program searches for and imports all of the photos on your computer. Look through the library of imported photos inside Picasa and double-click on the photo you want to modify.

      Click on the "Text" button under "Basic Fixes" on the left-side toolbar. Click on any part of the photo start typing whatever you want to write on the photo to create a text box.

      Click on the "Font," "Size," "Style" and "Alignment" buttons on the left-side toolbar to change the font style, size, style and positioning of the text in your text box. Click on any side of the text box and drag it to anywhere on the photo that you want.

      Click on the "Back to Library" button near the top of the page when you are done creating and editing your text box. When asked if you want to save the changes you made, click "Apply Changes."
