How to Edit a Feed in WordPress 2.9 thumbnail
Wordpress 2.9 makes it easy to edit a feed and add advertisements, if desired.

Editing your feed in the self-hosted version of WordPress 2.9 is done from within the administration dashboard. In addition to editing the feed, there are free third-party plugins and applications that give you the ability to customize the look and function of your WordPress RSS feed. WordPress makes customizing and editing your blog uncomplicated through the use of an administration area on the back end, and easy to use plugins and themes.

Instructions

    • 1

Login to the administration area of your WordPress installation using your username and password to gain access to the WordPress dashboard. The administration area is located at "yoursite.com/wp-admin."

    • 2

Click on the link called "Settings," located in the sidebar on the left, near the bottom. The settings link will expand to reveal the individual settings that can be edited within the administration area.

    • 3

Click on the "Reading" link from within the expanded choices, beneath "Settings." This section deals with how your content presents to your readers.

    • 4

Enter the amount of posts that you would like your feed to show next to the words "Syndication Feeds Show the Most Recent." The default value here is 10 items, or blog posts. If you have less than the amount you choose here, your RSS feed will just show the current amount of posts.

    • 5

Choose whether you would like your feed to show the full text of your blog posts or only a summary, by clicking on the appropriate button next to the words "For Each Article in a Feed, Show."

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your WordPress installation updated with the newest version of WordPress. Updates provide security patches and ensure that your blog will be compatible with current themes and plugins.
