Don't discard your T-84 just because it lacks the familiar "=" key.

If you've never used a graphing calculator before, you may be surprised to find that no button on the TI-84 shows an equals sign. There is, however, an equivalent button on the keypad that performs all of the functions you expect from an "equals" key. Texas Instruments labels this key the "Enter" button. Besides simple calculations, your graphing calculator plots graphs and even runs programs, so its button for executing commands has a label that suits its wider scope.

Instructions

    • 1

Type a mathematical problem using your keypad. For this example, type "1 + 1."

    • 2

Look at the rightmost column of buttons on your keypad.

    • 3

Look to the bottom of the column. The final key there is labeled "Enter."

    • 4

Press the button. Your calculator will add an "=" sign after "1 + 1" and will add, on the following line, the answer to this problem: "2."
