How to Get a Yahoo! Mail Account Forwarded to Gmail

Email forwarding is a simple way to keep all your messages in one place.

Getting your friends, family members and coworkers to remember that you have a new email address can take some time. If you have recently made the switch from Yahoo! Mail to Gmail, setting up message forwarding is a wise way to make sure that any emails mistakenly sent to your old address still make it to your inbox. Yahoo! Mail provides a free, built-in forwarding tool that can be set up within minutes.

Instructions

1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account. Open the "Options" menu in the top-right corner of your Yahoo! Mail page. Click "More Options." Select "Pop & Forwarding."

2. Click the "Forward your Yahoo Mail" radio button. Type your Gmail address into the "Forward Email to the Following Address" field. Click the "Save Changes" button. An email verification window will appear. Click the blue "Send Code" link. Leave this window open.

3. Login to your Gmail account in a separate browser tab. Open the automated email from Yahoo! Mail. Copy the verification code from the email. Paste it into Yahoo!'s separate "Verify Email Address" window (opened in step 2). Click "Done" to complete the verification.

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to import your existing Yahoo! emails and contacts into your Gmail account, use the "Import Mail and Contacts" tool. This tool can be found within the "Accounts and Import" submenu of the Gmail settings menu.
