How to Use Starbucks As an Office
In the information age, a great business can be started with a laptop and a nearby Starbucks as a first office. Small businesses that are financially constrained or limited in office space may be forced to use these locations as their initial "offices." There are a few ways to make this situation work -- and still get to drink your coffee.

1
Choose a Starbucks that is close to your home. As a small business, Starbucks should first and foremost be a quick escape from your residence to a more work-focused environment.
-
2
Pick a Starbucks that is relatively small and not especially bustling or loud. Due to the abundance of locations, there should be several choices. A Starbucks that is too crowded will provide a constant distraction. Too many patrons will also slow down the Internet connectivity due to more demands on the Wi-Fi network.

3
Invite potential business partners, prospects and investors to meet at your designated location. As an out-of-home location, Starbucks provides a bit more professional atmosphere. In addition, your choice of a relatively tranquil location will allow a more private conversation without too many distractions.
-
4
Conduct work and meetings during off-peak hours of Starbucks sales. The morning coffee rush and lunch break are the most popular times of the day. Business meetings and work time should be scheduled to avoid these times of day.
-
5
Establish a good relationship with baristas and management. If the Internet fails or you have a special request, you will be able to quickly communicate it to the Starbucks team.

Be considerate of other Starbucks customers by talking at a low volume and taking phone calls outside.
Don't leave your laptop or other work materials unattended -- ask someone to watch them for you if you need to step away from your table.
