If you like to customize your Mac operating system as much as possible, you can also make your own Mac Terminal setup. You use the Terminal to perform command line functions within the Mac OS operating system and also utilize the Unix-like properties. You can make your own Terminal; changing the appearance and various other settings for the Terminal as you wish.

      Click "Applications," then "Utilities" and the "Terminal."

      Click "Terminal," and then "Preferences."

      Click "+" to create your own Terminal setup.

      Click each of the five tabs: Text, Window, Shell, Keyboard and Advanced. Change the settings to your specification on each page.

      Click "Default" to enable your Mac Terminal.
