How to Add a Custom Header on Blogspot

Its difficult to establish your blog's identity without a custom header. The header is the first thing readers view and it should communicate what your blog is about. If you're using Blogger and have a "blogspot.com" URL, your blog comes with Blogger's default heading - which is definitely not personal or customized. You can add your own custom header to give your blog some personality. Your header must be formatted to the exact size you desire before you upload it to Blogger.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to Blogger.com and log in to your account.

    • 2

Click the "Design" link on your Dashboard under your blog.

    • 3

Click the "Edit" link for the Header widget at the top of the page.

    • 4

Click the button next to "From your computer" if you want to upload your header from your computer. Click the "Browse" button, locate your header image and click to select it. Click the "Open" button.

    • 5

Click the button next to "From the Web" if you want to use a header that is already hosted elsewhere online. Copy the direct URL image for your header and paste it into the field in the Blogger "Configure Header" window.

    • 6

Click "Behind title and description" if you want your header image to display in the background, with the title for your blog as text on top. Click "Instead of title and description" if you want to replace the text with your image. Click "Have description placed after the image" if you want your header image to replace the text title with the description still visible.

Click the box next to "Shrink to fit" if you want Blogger to automatically resize your image to fit your blog's size.

    • 8
