How to Reset the CMOS on the ASUS A8V
Asus is one of the world's largest manufacturers of motherboards and other computer components, such as video cards. The CMOS of a motherboard stores all of the settings related to how the hardware in a computer functions. For example, different features of a CPU can be enabled and disabled in the CMOS setup. You can reset the CMOS to the factory defaults on an Asus A8V motherboard to reconfigure the settings from scratch.

Power off the computer and remove the power cord.

Remove the side cover of the computer case. Some cases use screws, while others have a lever on the back of the case.

Move the "Clear CMOS" jumper to the "clear" position for five seconds, then move it back to its original position. The "Clear CMOS" jumper is located by the battery on the motherboard. Refer to the motherboard owner's manual for details.

Replace the side cover of the computer.

Power on the computer and press the Del key to enter the BIOS and reconfigure the CMOS settings.
