Chances you're one of them, and if you're anything like the average torrent user you've easily and unwittingly stocked up on plenty of now useless .torrent files. Many of us don't realize that once we've downloaded what we're looking for, that initial .torrent file sticks around until you do some spring cleaning. Clearing unnecessary files from your downloads folder will not only keep your folders tidy, but it will also help your computer run faster and more efficiently.

      Open uTorrent, then click on the "Options" drop-down menu. Click the first item on the menu, which is "Preferences." Then click on "Directories."

      Check the box next to "Automatically load .torrents from." Check the box next to "Delete loaded .torrents."

      Click the browse box marked with ellipses (...). Identify and choose the folder where your .torrent files are downloaded. This is typically the same location where your web browser places all of your downloads. Once you've identified the folder where your .torrent files are placed click "Select Folder."

      Click "Apply"; uTorrent will now automatically load and subsequently delete your .torrent files for you without modifying any other files.
