How to Get a Job at the Zoo in AZ
Arizona is home to various zoos, small and large. The largest zoo in the state is the Phoenix Zoo, with 125 acres of land and about 1,200 mammals, fish, invertebrates, birds and reptiles. There is also Reid Park in Tucson, with more than 400 animals, including rhinoceroses, elephants, polar bears, lions and anteaters. Other zoos in Arizona include the Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary in Prescott, the Navajo Nation Zoological and Botanical Park in Window Rock, the Out Of Africa Wildlife Park in Camp Verde, and the Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park. Employment at these zoos may be seasonal or permanent, depending on the position.

1
Select the zoo or zoos in Arizona at which you desire employment. (See References for a list and description of zoos in the state.) Some of the zoos are large and are open year-round, and others feature a limited number of exhibits and are restricted to certain seasons of year.
-
2
Research open positions on the zoo's website. Zoos have different hours and operations during different times of the year, so their employment and staffing needs depend on the season. Zoos advertise job vacancies as needed, so rather than sending a general resume, you must respond to a specific posting. The Phoenix Zoo accepts applications only for published positions, so you should apply for a position advertised on its website.

Review the job descriptions for the positions available. Determine the jobs for which you have the qualifications, training and skills. Also identify which positions meet your needs for hours, depending on whether you want to obtain full- or part-time employment. Posted positions may indicate that a position is seasonal, perhaps lasting only a month or so. Confirm that the job's duration suits you before applying.

4
Complete an online application or apply by mail for each position in which you are interested. Applications require you to provide information related to your education, previous employment and relevant skills. You will also be asked to list references and attach a current resume.
