How to Get the Hostage in the Level "Stealing the Show"
In "Lego Batman," you take on the role of Batman, Robin and their adversaries to fight over Gotham City. In addition to the game's story mode missions, you may pursue optional goals such as freeing hostages littered throughout the game's stages. These hostages are typically well-hidden and require the use of several different super-abilities to access. One such hostage is hidden in the level "Stealing the Show." It is located near the beginning of the level, so you can easily get to the hostage right away.

Go to the fan at the beginning of the level and ride its wind up to the rooftop to your right.

Destroy the brown box to your left. Create a magnetic ramp leading to the apartment on the left side of the stage.

Break the windows to the apartment and enter to free the hostage.

Tips & Warnings
If you are unable to create a magnetic ramp leading directly to the apartment, build a magnetic wall straight up and use your glide suit to glide over to the apartment on your left.
