If your DVR's internal storage is starting to get full, you can copy the recorded programs to a VHS tape for future viewing. The DirecTV receiver features an output for your VCR to make for a straightforward connection that is simple enough for most home users to make themselves.

  • RCA composite cables
  • VCR
  • Blank VHS tape

      Plug one end of the RCA cables into the "Video + Audio OUT" ports.

      Insert the other side of the cables to the "Video + Audio IN" ports on the input panel of the VCR.

      Plug the power cord from the VCR into a power outlet turn it on. Press the "List" button on DVR's remote and the MyVOD list will appear. Highlight a recorded program on the DVR you want to copy.

      Insert the blank VHS tape into the VCR and press "Record."

      Press "Enter" on the DVR's remote to begin copying the program from your DVR. Press "Stop" on the VCR player once the program is finished to stop the recording. Open the next recording on the DVR and press "Record" on the VCR to copy another program to the tape.
