How to Create a 6th Grade Bible Crossword
Word games such as crossword puzzles can be a fun activity for both adults and children. In addition to being a mental challenge, crossword puzzles also have the potential to be an effective learning tool for students, according to the abstract "Reviewing for Exams: Do Crossword Puzzles Help in the Success of Student Learning?" by Tricia M. Davis, Brooke Shepherd and Tara Zwiefelhofer. There are many websites that allow users to create their own crossword puzzles using any words or clues they desire and for any difficulty level or age group.

1
Make a list of words that you want your sixth-graders to have to figure out in your crossword puzzle. Most online crossword puzzle makers allow you to include anywhere from 20 to 50 words in your puzzle so keep this in mind when compiling your list. Along with the words, come up with a crossword clue for each word to aid your sixth-graders in figuring out the correct crossword words.

Go online and visit websites like CrosswordPuzzleGames.com, EdHelper.com or GospelHall.org to create and print your own crossword puzzles using your own words and clues. In addition, GospelHall.org has the ability to create crossword puzzles for you based on books of the Bible or certain passages. On the websites, click on either "Create Crossword," Make Puzzles" or "Go directly to Step 3" to start making your crosswords.

Enter the crossword words, in all caps, on the following page. Next to each crossword word, in the "Clue" section, write a short clue that will help your sixth-graders figure out each crossword. When you are done entering words and clues, look through them and verify you have spelled each word correctly and that each clue you entered correctly corresponds with each word.

Title your crossword puzzle by typing in a title in the "Puzzle Title" heading and select a difficulty level of "Difficult" on EdHelper.com, which is recommended for middle-school students. Click "Create my crossword puzzle" or "Create Puzzle" on whichever website you are using and wait for a printer window to pop up. Enter how many copies you of the puzzle you want to make under the "Number of Copies" heading and then click "Print." Your Bible crossword puzzles should now print out of your home or office printer.
