How to Post Generic Cover Letters on Job Sites
Some job sites let you post a resume and cover letter targeted to a position that employers can view. You do not actively send these cover letters or resumes to employers. This eliminates much of your ability to personalize the letter to match the specifications of individual employers, but you can write it to match the type of job for which you are applying.

Sign up on the job sites to which you want to post your cover letter. You must provide your name, email address and other information to create an account on these sites. Carefully read through the site's privacy policy and terms of use to make sure that your privacy is closely guarded.

Write your letter to match the needs of a specific type of employer. For example, if you want to work for a nonprofit organization, you might write how you can save the organization money with novel cost-cutting techniques. Include in your cover letter recent news about the industry the job you are applying for is in to demonstrate that you have kept up to date on the industry and that you are a detail-oriented worker with the ability to do research.

Keep your address and personal contact information out of the cover letter. You do not want your personal information public for employers and the rest of the Internet to see. Even if you specify that employers can view only your cover letter, have employers contact you through the job site rather than through the body of the letter.
