How to Find a Property in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Home to 56,000 residents, Lancaster is a small city in the county of Lancaster. You can use public records to locate a property in Lancaster. The Lancaster County Recorder's Office will help you obtain a deed to a specific property. You can search for deeds online or in person at the Recorder's Office.

Instructions

1. Go to the website of the Lancaster County (see Resources). Choose "Property Assessment" in the drop down menu of departments.

2. Choose "Online Search/Property Search" on the left hand side of the screen. Select "GIS Property Search" under "Online Services."

3. Select "GIS Property Search" or "Property Assessment Search." Both are search engines that will provide you with names of property owners.

4. Search by owner name, property address, or property identification number. Click "Submit."

5. Go to the Lancaster County Recorder of Deed's office to review property deeds if you do not want to search online. The office staff will help you find copies of deeds. Each page will cost $0.25 as of May 2011.
