How to Treat Intex Pools
Intex pools are an affordable way to enjoy a swimming pool without the cost and hassle of installing a permanent aboveground or in-ground pool. You can empty and store away Intex pools for the winter or leave them up and winterize them. Intex pools require the same maintenance as any permanent pool, with daily, weekly and as-needed care that shouldn't be ignored or forgotten. Does this Spark an idea?

Daily Care
-
1
Use the skimmer that came with your Intex pool to scoop out any bugs, flies or other debris from the surface of the water.
-
2
Test the pool water for pH levels, using test strips. The pH needs to be 7.4 to 7.8. Add pH decreaser if the levels are too high or a pH increaser if they are too low. Follow any directions on the back of the bottle.

-
3
Add a chlorine dispenser ball that floats around the pool, slowly dispensing a steady stream of chlorine from chlorine tablets. Add three chlorine tablets into the dispenser. Open the holes of the dispenser to allow the chlorine to flow properly.
Weekly Care
-
4
Shock the pool water once a week to keep the water at proper levels. Shock will sanitize the water further and add to the chlorine level in the pool. Follow the directions exactly as written on the back of the package. Test the water prior to adding the shock to ensure you add the correct amount. Correct levels fall between 1 and 3 parts per million (ppm).
-
5
Add an algaecide to the pool water once a week to prevent algae from forming in the water. Algaecide will also control any algae that has already formed.
-
6
Prevent cloudy pool water by adding clarifier once a week. Clarifiers remove particles from the water by binding them together so they're large enough to be caught by the pool's filtration system.
