How to Make Garlic Bread on a Long Roll
Served on the side of a pasta or seafood dish, it's hard to resist the fragrant, buttery taste of restaurant-style garlic bread. If you want to emulate that garlicky goodness, you can create a garlic-butter spread that can be added to any type of bread you have at home. If you have a long roll of bread, such as a French or Italian loaf, you can heat the whole bread loaf and cut it up into individual servings. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 loaf French or Italian bread
- 2 cloves garlic, mashed
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 bunch chives
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Slice the loaf in half lengthwise to create 2 long half-loaves. Lay the halves crust side down.

Combine the butter, mashed garlic and chives together in a small bowl.

Spread the mixture generously over the loaf halves.

Place the bread on a baking sheet. Place in the oven for about 10 minutes.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the bread, if desired.

Turn the oven to broil. Move the oven rack to the setting closest to the broiler.

Place the bread back into the oven to broil for 2 to 3 minutes, until golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.

Let the bread cool for a minute before cutting it up into even pieces. Serve warm.

Tips & Warnings
Watch the bread constantly while it is broiling, because the broiler will quickly burn the bread if you are not paying attention.
