How to Add Print Management Snap-in in Windows 7

The Print Management snap-in is enabled by default in Windows 7. Group policies or customized settings in Windows 7 may have removed the print management option. Print Management is used to manage printers on computers running different Windows operating systems. It is especially useful in network printers because it allows network administrators to monitor and manage different printers in one console. With Print Management, administrators can view current print jobs, queues or printer problems in the network.

  • Click the "Start" button. This is the circular button with the Windows logo.

  • Go to "Control Panel" and click "Programs."

  • Click "Turn Windows features on or off." Enter an administrator password when prompted and confirm the password to proceed.

  • Expand "Printing and Document Services."

  • Check all the boxes under "Printing and Document Services" to enable all features of Print Management. The options available are: "Distributed Scan Management," "Internet Printing Client," "LPD Print Service," "LPR Port Monitor," and "Windows Fax and Scan."

  • Click "OK." This adds the print management tool in the "Administrative Tools" of Windows 7.
