How to Bring Up Facebook Chat on Your iPad

Log in to Facebook to chat with other Facebook users on your iPad.

Access Facebook chat directly from your iPad by logging in to Facebook and using the Facebook Presence feature. The Apple iPad comes standard with the Safari Web browser application. When using the Safari browser on the iPad, you can rotate the screen to view Facebook chat vertically or horizontally. First set up your iPad to connect to the Internet, then log in to Facebook to chat with other Facebook users.

Instructions

1. Power on the iPad by pressing and holding the "Sleep/Wake" button.

2. Tap the "Safari" Web browser icon to open the Internet.

3. Tap the address field to bring up the on-screen keyboard. Type the following URL: "http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php" and tap "Go."

4. Log in to Facebook with your username and password. Tap the blue "Log In" button. A Facebook chat window appears.

5. Tap the Facebook friend's name on the left-hand side of the Facebook chat window. Type the Facebook message with the on-screen keyboard and tap "Go" to chat.
