How to Repair a Slow PC

Speeding up your computer's performance is a matter of cleaning out old files and programs that weigh the system down.This may sound like a technical task, but the Windows operating system has tools that are designed to make the process easy to understand with a few clicks of the mouse.

Go to "Start," and click "Control Panel." You are taken to a new menu. Select the "Add Remove Programs" option. You are taken to a menu containing all the programs installed on your computer. Locate programs you do not need and click the "Remove" button next to the program.

Go to "Start," click "Control Panel." You are taken to a new menu. Select the "Performance and Maintenance" option. Click the "Free up disc on your hard drive" option. The "Disc Clean Up" program begins cleaning up the files on your computer.

Go to "Start," click "Control Panel." You are taken to a new menu, select the Performance and Maintenance" option. Click the "Rearrange Items on Your Hard Disc to Make Programs Run Faster" option. The "Disc Defragmenter" Program begins defragmenting your hard disc.
