How to Transfer Bookmarks From Firefox

Save

To most people, their Firefox bookmarks are a valuable commodity. These bookmarks have accumulated over several years of surfing and would be difficult to replace. If you're planning on installing a newer version of Firefox or migrating to a new computer, you probably don't want to abandon your bookmarks. Luckily, you don't have to. Mozilla Firefox offers a convenient way to export your bookmarks, which can be imported again into Firefox.

Exporting Bookmarks

  • Open Mozilla Firefox.

  • Hold the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys and press "B" to open your bookmarks library window.

  • Click "Import and Backup" at the top of the Library window and select "Export HTML."

  • Select your save location from the Windows Explorer-type interface and click "Save." Your bookmarks will then be saved in that location and named "bookmarks.html." Optionally, you can change the save name by entering a different name in the "File Name" field.

Importing Bookmarks

  • Open Mozilla Firefox in your new computer or new version of Firefox.

  • Hold the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys and press "B" to open your bookmarks library window.

  • Click "Import and Backup" at the top of the Library window and select "Import HTML."

  • Click "From an HTML File" and click "OK" in the "Import Wizard" window.

  • Click your "bookmarks.html" file from the navigation window and click "Open" to import your bookmarks.
