How to Transfer Bookmarks From Firefox

To most people, their Firefox bookmarks are a valuable commodity. These bookmarks have accumulated over several years of surfing and would be difficult to replace. If you're planning on installing a newer version of Firefox or migrating to a new computer, you probably don't want to abandon your bookmarks. Luckily, you don't have to. Mozilla Firefox offers a convenient way to export your bookmarks, which can be imported again into Firefox.

  1. Exporting Bookmarks

      Open Mozilla Firefox.

      Hold the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys and press "B" to open your bookmarks library window.

      Click "Import and Backup" at the top of the Library window and select "Export HTML."

      Select your save location from the Windows Explorer-type interface and click "Save." Your bookmarks will then be saved in that location and named "bookmarks.html." Optionally, you can change the save name by entering a different name in the "File Name" field.

    Importing Bookmarks

      Open Mozilla Firefox in your new computer or new version of Firefox.

      Hold the "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys and press "B" to open your bookmarks library window.

      Click "Import and Backup" at the top of the Library window and select "Import HTML."

      Click "From an HTML File" and click "OK" in the "Import Wizard" window.
