You can babysit part time, full time or even as a summer job. The most important thing your babysitting business needs is clients. When you first start babysitting, it may require some effort to find parents who need a babysitter. If you do a good job, they're likely to ask for you again and eventually you will no longer have to look for babysitting jobs.

1. Tell people you know that you're available to babysit. Word-of-mouth advertising is very effective, especially for in-demand services like childcare. Your friends, family and neighbors might need a babysitter from time to time and know other people who do too.

3. Hang flyers. Public libraries, churches and schools are good places to start, because parents are likely to see them. Be sure to ask for permission before hanging your flyer.

• Take a babysitting certification class at your local YMCA. You'll learn a lot and some parents will hire only sitters that are certified.
