How to Make Your Mouse Silent

Save

When you use the Windows Operating System, you can customize your computer experience. Not only can you change the way your Windows appear, you can also customize how the system sounds. By default, your mouse makes a "clicking" sound when you click an item or navigate. If this sound is annoying, you can easily make your mouse silent.

  • Click your Windows "Start" button. Select "Control Panel."

  • Click "Ease of Access Center."

  • Click the "Change System Sounds" link, located on the left side panel (bottom). This will launch a "Sound" window with multiple tabs along the top of the window.

  • Click the "Sounds" tab. Look in the "Program" box. Click "Start Navigation."

  • Click the "Sounds" drop-down menu. Select "None" from the menu list.

  • Click "Apply" to save your changes. Click "OK" to exit.
