How to Put Pictures on Your iPhone Without iTunes

The iTunes application is not only used to download and play music, but it is also the means by which files, such as photos, are transferred from a computer to your iPhone. The usual way to add pictures to your iPhone is to perform a sync between iTunes and the device. However, if iTunes is malfunctioning, you can still add pictures to your iPhone by accessing them through the Mail application on the device. You must have a valid email account on your iPhone before you can use the application.

  • Launch a Web browser, then go to the sign-in page of your email account.

  • Log in to your email account, then click "Compose."

  • Click "Attach a File" or "Upload File," then navigate to the picture that you want to transfer to your iPhone.

  • Click "Open" to upload the picture to your email message, then fill out the rest of the fields, such as the "Subject" "Message" fields. Enter your email address in the "To" field. Click "Send" to send the email.

  • Tap the "Mail" icon on the home screen of your iPhone.

  • Scroll to the email message with the picture attached, then tap it to open it. The email message opens up with the attached picture automatically open. If the attached picture does not automatically open, tap the attachment. The picture automatically downloads and opens.

  • Tap the picture, then tap "Save Image" from the pop-up menu. The picture is automatically copied to the Photo application. Repeat the process to send as many pictures to your iPhone as you need.
